Objective

Resilient Region, Resilient City

Planning concerns with various problems of regions and cities to create functional and better living conditions. It learns from the past and understands current situation to create a better future. Managing crises and uncertainty has become an important issue in planning. It even becomes part of main activities. In increasingly complex and interdependent world, nations and communities have to encounter rapid and unpredictable changes sometimes with detrimental social and economic impacts. In this situation, appropriate and innovative solutions have to be found to survive in the current and future economic and environment crises. Sound management of social systems has to be undertaken along with appropriate structural or technical solutions. To survive the crises, resiliency of regions and cities has become an important quest. It will determine ability to continue development and eventually to sustain societies in the developed and the developing worlds. With this background in mind, we call concerned planners, engineers, social scientists and practitioners to share ideas, knowledge, and experience for creating wider benefits for our societies in this joint conference. The ultimate goal of this conference is to create better understanding and synergy between proponents of regional and city planning and management of social systems.

Important dates

  • Deadline for 300-word Abstract: 15th April 2015
  • Notice of Acceptance: 15th May, 2015
  • Deadline for Full Paper/ Extended abstract: 15th September, 2015
  • Registration Deadline: 15th September, 2015

Paper

Prospective authors are expected to submit either full paper or extended abstract. Authors can choose the type of paper when they register on the web. Regardless of your paper type, you need to submit your 300- word abstract by the abstract submission deadline(15th April, 2015)

  • Extended Abstract: 2 pages
  • Full Paper: 6 to 12 pages

All the full papers submitted at the symposium will be reviewed by reviewers selected by SSMS. The authors who submit 2-page extended abstracts are also entitled to make presentation at SSMS2015. They are also allowed to submit their full paper after the symposium for reviewing.

Abstract Submission

Prospective authors (Include those who submit extended abstracts) are invited to submit abstracts (around 300 words in English) by 15th April, 2015 All the authors need to create their account on the society website to register themselves as participants. Authors can submit their abstruct from a green icon “Abstruct submission” on the right side of this page.

How to register

You can register yourself by opening your web account on SSMS website. Regardless your participation type, both authors and general participant (audience) need their own web account.

On your account, you can:

  • see the status of your registration
  • make registration fee payment by credit card
  • abstract submission
  • full paper / extended abstract submission
  • re-submit modified paper (before deadline)

When you create your account for the first time, E-mail will be sent to you with ID and Password you chose. Please keep your ID and Password to login.

Registration Number

Each registered participant will have 4 digit registration number. This number is regarded as your ID number and also used for paper serial code.

Change and Cancellation

If you wish to make changes of your participation type or cancel your participation, please contact SSMS2015 organizing committee secretariat since participants can not modify once registered information by themselves.

Registration Fees

Regular registration fee (before 15th September, 2015): 300 US$

Late registration fee (After 16th September, 2015): 350 US$

  • Payment before 15th September is advised so as to avoid higher rate payment.
  • Participants who submit papers will be asked to make payment after Notice of Acceptance. The notice will be sent after 15th May, 2015.
  • If refund is necessary due to cancellation or option change, please send e-mail tossms@kochi-tech.ac.jp

If you intend to join post-symposium technical tour, 100 US$ (Technical Tour fee) will be additionally charged.

The amount you need to pay will be seen on your web account in accordance with your participation type.

If you login to your web account. You will be guided to PAYPAL.

Each participant is asked to create a web account for registration. See the “How to Register” section to get further explanation.
