SSMS Presidential Inauguration Ceremony

Prof. Jenn- Chuan Chern, Deputy Minister of Public Construction, Commission of Executive Yuan, Taiwan and National Taiwan University, made a speech of Inauguration as the new president of SSMS, in which Social Management Systems should aim at sustainable development especially with high degree of disaster prevention consciousness.

Prof. Mohan Munasinghe, President of Munasinghe Institute of Development, Sri Lanka lectured “Integrated Strategy for Sustainable Development and Climate Change: Usingthe Sustainomics framework,” in which a climate change politics that harmonize both adaptation and mitigation while also making development sustainable was insisted.

Prof. Shinsuke NAKATA

Prof. Shinsuke NAKATA, Kochi University of Technology, Japan lectured “Outlines and Countermeasure of Tohoku Earthquake,” in which outline of the damage due to Tohoku-taiheiyo-oki Earthquake in March 2011 was explained, especially on the tsunami.


Prof. Takao Komine

Prof. Takao Komine, Graduate School of Regional Policy Design, Hosei University, Japan lectured “The Economic Impact Caused by the Earthquake and the Economic Policy Challenges Facing Japan,” in which the necessity of social capitals for creating local communities and keeping communities safe was insisted.


SSMS Paper Award Ceremony

Prof. Masaru Morita, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Japan, Dr. Chikako Fujiyama, University of Tokyo, Japan, and Dr. Jay Lin, SC Solutions, USA were awarded for their outstanding papers to SSMS.

Prof. Ranaweera, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka lectured “Sustainable Infrastructure Development in Ancient Sri Lanka” in which various types of sustainable and environmental infrastructure systems guided by the teaching of Buddha were introduced.


>Prof. Samantha Hettiarachchi

Prof. Samantha Hettiarachchi, University of Moratuwa. Sri Lanka lectured “Coastal hazards, risk assessment and Management” in which the importance of risk assessment and management toward climate change and coastal hazards was explained.


>Prof. Denis Maillat

Prof. Denis Maillat, University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland lectured “Endogenous growth and regional policy” in which Territorialization, bottom up regional development concept, was explained.


Prof. Yoshiyuki Okamoto

Prof. Yoshiyuki Okamoto, Hosei University, Japan lectured “Endogenous development, innovation and social capital” in which the importance of learning dynamics for regional revitalization and innovation were explained by giving examples of regional revitalization projects and industries.


Prof. Rahula Attalage

Prof. Rahula Attalage, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka lectured “Green Building Technologies in Sustainable Engineering” in which the ancient infrastructure and building technologies in Sri Lanka were introduced in terms of green technology and sustainability.
